Who am I?

I am a passionate person. I believe our bodies want to be well. I believe I can help you to create the best version of yourself. I am someone seeking to create the best version of myself. I find that in doing so, I am often on “the road less travelled”. I invite you to try it with me! This is how we create lives “worth telling a story about!”

I have been in the fitness industry since 1998. I have been inspired by many people along the way.

I have an unwavering commitment to maintain my health and strength and energy so that I can help others to unveil and maintain theirs. It is about living, breathing and being vibrant and having a zest for life!

My family, faith, and friends have shaped my life. A few strangers have shaped my life too. And even, people I have only crossed paths with have shaped my life. All of what I have learned and who I am I attempt to pass on.

I began my wellness journey as an adolescent. We lived in a household that struggled with weight, enjoyed and celebrated food, and liked to play sports and exercise. Sounds familiar? I remember going to Nautilus gyms in New Jersey where I grew up with my mother. I remember doing exercise videos at 5am before school as my father was leaving for work. I swam and played water polo through high school and I took up running in college. I struggled with my weight and knew that in order to maintain a healthy weight, I had to keep moving!

An amazing husband, two awesome kids, my supportive mother, a friend who never gives up on me, thousands of group exercise classes taught, personal training in my garage, and now you…

ALL THESE THINGS have led me here…to The Energy Lab. Here we are: a dream that began in 2006 with a notebook full of visions about a community of like-minded individuals experiencing “more than a workout”, but a way of life.

What do I love to do the most? Inspire people, create change, challenge comfort zones. Whether that happens in a training session, or a cycling class, I love it! I often see it in Pilates sessions and TRX training. I feel it when I am on the bike with a group and we collectively experience the flow. I love the teamwork created from bootcamp and our SEAL training and PMA Lab experiences. I have seen people help each other up, mentally, physically, and emotionally. The warmth in my hands and feeling of energy from a group playing t’ai chi when the moment of flow happens and the observations as bodies MELT after a MELT roller experience ~ I love!

Natalie is a native of England, who has now made Redlands California her home with her husband and two children. She moved to the U.S in 1997 for Graduate School, and due to the lack of general everyday activity (compared to walking and biking in Europe) she was exposed to the gym culture – she loved it and has been a fitness enthusiast ever since.

Natalie is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer with a passion for fitness and nutrition. Her aim is to empower clients to adopt a healthy lifestyle and achieve their nutrition and fitness goals. Natalie believes that “how you do anything, is how you do everything” and she uses this motivation in her training sessions to focus on improving functional movement, core performance, stability, and mobility… as well as in lifestyle choices that incorporate clean eating, exercise and balance.

Natalie loves to share her passion and she wants you to feel the benefits of exercise in your daily activities and to know that you CAN change the rest of your story.

My name is Tina Austin and I was born and raised in California. I’ve lived in Redlands for 45 years now and involved with the fitness industry for over 30 years.

I teach because I absolutely love it. I am passionate. I was asked to workout at a gym and next thing I know I was asked by the instructor if I ever thought about teaching. That was my start and hear I am 30 years later still teaching. I was also personal training for about 5 years up until working full time.

My national certifications are personal training and group exercise, both through AFAA. I have also been certified with Les Mills BodyPump, Turbo Kickboxing, cycling, and most recently TaijiFit.

I love seeing people’s lives change. You can make such an impact on people that you can change their lives for the better. My favorite type of class to teach is bootcamps.

I’m a lifer. Fitness is a part of me and I can’t even imagine not being able to workout and I hope to give you that same passion.

Paul is a soccer player and coach with a desire to help athletes young and old. Athletes on the field and off the field. And athletes at heart to be the best versions of themselves that they can be! He's been a part of The Energy Lab since we began and has experienced every type of class Jill has offered. His workouts will sneak up on you...HAVE FUN in Paul's classes!

My name is David Thurston and I'm a long time Redlands resident, spending most of my 38 years here in the city. I've been working with Jill and rest of the wonderfully motivating Energy Lab team for over a year now, and I've recently started coaching FitCore classes on Tuesday evenings. I consider myself more of a guide when it comes to the FitCore classes, as I, myself always learning something new and inspiring when working with my classmates. I'm driven by the mutual energy everyone brings to the Lab and by the desire that we all seem share to dig just a little bit deeper and push ourselves a little harder as we challenge ourselves in new and creative ways. After every class, I always left with a tremendous sense of gratitude for opportunity I have to hopefully inspire others while they are on their health and fitness journey.
